Most Popular Questions
Stamp artwork must be in vector format and all text converted to outlines, sent as a PDF file. Pixel-based images cannot be used in Rubber Stamp files. Fine lines and detail should be a minimum of 1pt line thickness, including the "white" lines (or the negative spaces in between).
Rubber stamps do not require bleed or a safety margin – your design can extend to the very edge of the stamp.
Your design will need to be submitted in black and white only, meaning the black areas will be produced as the raised part of the stamp. Black must be 100% CMYK Black (0,0,0,100).
The design file should be right-reading (not flipped or inverted), ie. showing what the final ink imprint will be when stamped onto paper.
Can I order a custom sized Rubber Stamp?
Yes! In addition to the standard sizes we offer, we can make any custom size (up to the maximum size of 4x6 inches).
To accommodate the size you need, simply order the next size up that would fit your design. The wood block and handle will be adjusted appropriately to the size of your custom rubber stamp.

What are Rubber Stamps not suitable for?
The following surfaces are not suitable for Rubber Stamps:
- Glass and plastic
- Rough or uneven surfaces (such as handmade papers or round surfaces on bottles)
- Smooth Matte or Silk Matte Laminated coating
- Super Gloss or Semi Gloss coated
The following design features are not suitable for Rubber Stamps:
- Designs with fine detail (including small text)
- Large areas of solid colour (heavy coverage)
What are Rubber Stamps suitable for?
Rubber Stamps can be used on most porous surfaces (materials that will absorb and hold the ink).
Rubber stamps work best on uncoated card and paper with a smooth surface. Rough textured papers (such as hand-made paper) might not be suitable for stamping – we recommend testing this or inquiring with our Customer Service team before ordering.
The list of suitable products includes:
- Paper bags
- Wedding invitations
Additional notes for using stamps with certain products and coatings:
- Matte coated cards – suitable for stamping, but several minutes drying time will be required
- Wood cards – suitable for stamping, but due to the texture and grain of the stock, there may be more inconsistencies in the impression as well as increased drying time
- Cotton, Bamboo cards – due to the rougher and more porous stock, the ink may "bleed" or spread out more on these stocks
- Brown Kraft stickers – there is additional ink bleed on this stock and additional drying time required
How to use a Rubber Stamp
The key to using your Rubber Stamp is practice! We recommend testing and practising using your Rubber Stamp as much as you can.
Keep in mind that not every impression will be perfect – so make sure you have some margin for error and additional material or products to apply the stamp to. It also might take several impressions before the ink transfer becomes optimal, we recommend 10-30 test impressions before you start using the stamp.
Some additional tips for using Rubber Stamps:
- Place the material you will be stamping (eg. paper or card) on a flat stable surface such as a table.
- Ink the stamp between each impression, pushing the stamp hard onto the ink pad.
- In a single motion push the stamp onto the material and press firmly; then remove the stamp.
- Allow the ink to dry for at least 30 seconds before touching or moving the stamped area.
- Keep the ink pad covered when not in use, and refill with ink when necessary.
What are the Rubber Stamps made of?
The stamps are composed of a laser-etched high-grade rubber stamp plate, a foam backing with a wooden base and handle. Rubber Stamps are much higher quality and longer-lasting than their Polymer alternatives.
How long will a Rubber Stamp last?
Our stamps are made from high-grade rubber. If used correctly and cared for a Rubber Stamp should last a lifetime.
Finest detail on Rubber Stamps
The rubber plate of the stamp can hold very fine detail, however due to the application and nature of a stamp each impression may not be perfect. This means fine details and lines will not show in each print.
For this reason we recommend fine detail and lines should be a very minimum of 2pt line thickness – or larger than 8pt font size (when compared to Helvetica Regular).
See: Fine detail.
Are there Layout Templates for the Rubber Stamps?
At this stage we do not offer Layout Templates for Rubber Stamps.
This is because Rubber Stamps do not have a safety margin, and do not require bleed. See: Setting up press-ready files for a Rubber Stamp
How do I view my Rubber Stamp proof?
Your Rubber Stamp proof will show as per the imprint left by the stamp pressed on the page (also called "right-reading").
The black area in your proof is where the ink will appear on the page.
How do I care for my Rubber Stamp?
We recommend using your stamp with stamp ink pads suitable for rubber stamps only. After each use wipe off ink with a soft damp cloth (water only) and dry before storing. Store the stamp in a cool dry place away from sunlight.
Using paints or other inks may damage the stamp. Do not use cleaning products or chemicals on the stamp.
What can I use stamps for?
Stamps are a very unique way to brand your wedding invitations, hang tags, letterhead and more – stamps can be used on most uncoated papers and surfaces that will absorb ink (testing recommended).
What stocks are suitable for Rubber Stamps?
All of our uncoated card stocks are most suitable and recommended for stamps.
You can also use the stamps on Matte coated card stock, however these will require several minutes drying time.
What colour ink pads do you offer?
The ink colours we offer for stamps are:

What is the largest Rubber Stamp you can produce?

Do the Rubber Stamps come with cards or blank paper for stamping?
Generally they do not – but this can be specified in your order.
